Tidepools:

Dana Point Marine Life Refuge-
offers a docent-led tidepool exploration as well as a touch-tank at the Orange County Marine Institute. The tidepools are accessible at various
times depending on the tide. For tide schedules & special programs call (949) 496-2274.

Doheny Marine Life Refuge-
has small tidepools, you should make sure the tide is low when you visit otherwise, you won't see much. For tide schedules
& specifics call (949) 496-6172

Crystal Cove State Beach between Newport Beach & Laguna Beach-
has a long stretch of viewable tidepools with active sea life as well as an underwater park extending 120 feet off shore. Many interactive programs are available.

Laguna Beach Marine Life Refuge, Ecological Reserve & Underwater Park-
stretches from Seal Rock, viewable from Crescent Bay Drive south to Bird Rock just past Aster Street in Laguna Beach. The Laguna Tidepools Natural
Reserve is considered a divers paradise which provides a more proactive approach, to discovering the marine life along our coast. (949) 494-6572.

RULES FOR GENTLE TIDEPOOL EXPLORATION

  • Never remove animals, shells or rocks from the tidepools

  • Never pick up animals..observe them where they are.

  • Walk gently, taking care not to step on plants or animals.

  • Never turn over rocks.

  • Never Pick up moving shells.
